Non-destructive laboratory

During the manufacturing and servicing of materials or components, various discontinuities of different sizes may exist, and the future performance of the part is influenced by their nature and exact size. Therefore, to detect defects during the manufacturing stage and observe their growth rate over the service life of each component, highly accurate and reliable methods must be used. Razi Metallurgy Research Center, utilizing modern equipment, engineering and managerial expertise, as well as experience and technical knowledge in most inspection and supervisory fields, is prepared to provide the required services to the country's industries and has so far offered effective services in non-destructive testing and inspection to various sectors such as aerospace, automotive, construction, oil, gas, and petrochemical industries.

  Applications of Non-Destructive Testing:
- Detection and identification of component defects during the manufacturing process and stopping further production on the defective part to prevent additional time and cost - Determination of discontinuities and defects in the final produced component and enhancing product assurance and safety during service
- Inspection during service to identify potential defects in components and prevent the occurrence of undesirable incidents

Main services offered in the Non-Destructive Testing Laboratory:
- Non-destructive inspection of metallic and non-metallic raw materials
- Inspection of all welded, hard and soft soldered joints
- Evaluation of lamination defects (Lamination) in various ferrous and non-ferrous sheets with different thicknesses
- Surface defect inspection including (cracks, cavities, etc.) of bolts, nuts, welded joints, castings, forgings, and other components
- Internal defect inspection of steel, cast iron, aluminum, and magnesium castings as well as aluminum and magnesium die-cast parts using radiography reference images
- Evaluation of properties (moisture content, absorbed hydrogen, etc.) and performance of various coated electrodes, wires, welding rods, and welding powders
- Ferrite content measurement using Ferrite Scope method for austenitic stainless steels
- Thickness measurement using ultrasonic method to check the thickness of metallic materials (steel and cast iron) point by point and assess the reduction in thickness due to corrosion
- Ultrasonic immersion testing with the capability to display C-Scan and A, B, calculate %CAR, plot sensitivity curve TCG, with very high dimensional accuracy and resolution

  Non-Destructive Testing Methods:
